When learning to fly, the exciting experience of being in the air
often over rules all safe attempts of actually getting there. Then once
in the air either the thought of landing doesn't seem to matter as it's
inevitable or it overtakes the whole experience creating a short and
tense flight!

Realistically perfecting these techniques takes time, and once out of school
pilots
spend more time wanting to fly rather than practicing the fundamentals. Also,
techniques need to be versatile for new environments, different flying sites and
thermic conditions. Of course most promise that they'll take some time and
practice, but never get around to it eventually finding that poor
technique actually limit how and where they fly.
Often pilots are not completely aware of the bad habits they have
acquired and many are happy to struggle on without help! Isn't it nice when it all happens as it should. Perfect launches in all
conditions, and text book landings in front of friends and onlookers!!
If you have any of the following then at some stage it will be
either painful, embarrassing or expensive!!
- Launching..
Common paraglider problems are rushed inflations, not having the glider flying
straight into wind, too much or too little brake, not accelerating and jumping
into the harness thinking that the glider is flying!
Common hang gliding problems are not lifting/holding the
glider correctly, not having it level and into wind, not accelerating smoothly
or at all, and diving onto the base bar often putting the glider into a
semi-stall!
- Landing..
Common landing problems nearly always start with a poor approach, either too far
off the landing field or too high, then making poor final legs with not enough
speed, not into wind, object fixation, not looking ahead or other distractions. A combination
of problems that all create an 'arrival' rather than a planned landing!

Here's
how we can help! We spend a little time in the classroom explaining and
assessing all possibilities, then go and work on the training hill,
reinforcing the 'foot launch' techniques we learnt so long ago! The use
of video really helps us see what we are actually up to, or not! Often it doesn't take long to reinforce those rusty techniques, then
teach new ideas that include 'focusing and planning'. Of course
launch and landings are just part of good flying, if necessary we'll
help you with the rest too..
We charge just 100 Euros a day.
(per person in a
small group)
However, booking on a 'Direct Instruction' basis for one or two persons at 250
Euros a day is a good alternative!
