From February to late October our 'Fly Guiding'
service provides pilots with transport to the sites, retrieves, detailed
safety information, briefings at both launch and landing areas,
information on where the best thermals are, possible XC routes and
in-flight safety advice where necessary. This
service run by both Dennis or Gillian offers hassle free flying for maximum airtime.
We
try and visit a different flying site each day depending upon the
weather and pilot proficiency. The area has a number of excellent sites
for both paragliding and hang gliding pilots accessible either by road,
4x4 or cable car. Details can be found in the 'Sites
Guide' pages. We do have a few exclusive and interesting
sites accessible only by 4x4 that are not listed in the guide: we
prefer to keep these for our own clients. Ideally we try and complete at
least 2 or 3 good flights each day depending upon the itinerary and
weather.
Fly Guiding clients should have a minimum qualification
of
BHPA -CPC or level 2 licence or IPPI 3 with some mountain experience or at least
10 hours airtime since qualification. All your own gear should include a
selection of clothing for both hot and cool circumstances, good hill
walking or flying boots and proper flying helmet. Please bring your
licence, log book, instruments and radio if you have one. We have
radios for hire if required. Our licensed radio frequency is 161,325.
Don't forget your camera, vario or GPS computer cables so you can view
your pictures on our equipment!
In
addition you require at least 'third party' flying insurance and a
holiday insurance that includes medical, repatriation and
cancellation cover. European citizens should bring an EHIC card the
'European Health Insurance Card' that entitles you to reduced-cost and sometimes free
medical treatment if it becomes necessary while you're in a European
Economic area (EEA) country. In the UK, 'Air sports Insurance Bureau
Ltd' offers holiday insurance if required. Tel. +44 01983 298480 or
e-mail to
airsports@bhpa.co.uk
Temporary
'third party' flying insurance can be purchased from the FFVL in
France if unavailable from your own country. Please note; the
French insurance requires a doctor's letter stating that you are
basically fit. Just ask for a basic health check for blood pressure,
heart rate, breathing and general fitness. A full medical check is not
required unless you feel it's necessary or that you are over 50! It's
worthwhile obtaining this before your visit. If you already have a
letter then it's valid for 3 years for the under 40's and two years for
the over 40's.

The cost for our fly guiding
service is just 70 Euros a day or 40
Euros for half day and includes transport to all drive-to sites,
including 4x4 tracks and retrieves, though retrieves are limited to
mainland Europe for budding XC pilots! Cable car costs are note
included, sorry!
Radio hire is 40 Euros a week
or 8 Euros a day.
Glider Rentals..
We have paragliders and hang gliders available for
qualified and experienced clients. The rental conditions are for pilots
staying with us at the Flyers Lodge and using our fly guiding service!
The cost is just 25 Euros per flight.
-
The paragliders are supplied with harness, reserve
parachute, helmet and vario.
-
Hang gliding is more personal so you need to bring
your own harness and flying gear.
The person renting will be totally responsible for
the glider and all associated equipment and liable for all costs for
replacements or parts, and labour on any repairs.
